La Petite Souris
La Petite Souris
In a Parisian apartment, a child slides a tooth under the pillow and falls asleep. Behind the wainscoting, a small grey mouse is already on her way — the same mouse Madame d'Aulnoy wrote about in 1697, the one who once knocked the teeth out of a wicked king by pushing him from a tree. Tonight she is gentler. She leaves a coin and takes the tooth away in her teeth, and somewhere a story older than the Sun King continues.
