The Profession Burial

In Istanbul, a family gathers in the kitchen with one small tooth on the table between them. "Where do we plant it?" the father asks. The library, says the mother — for a writer. The hospital, says the grandmother — for a doctor. The football pitch, says the boy himself. They walk to the pitch. They bury it under the goalpost. His future, they have decided, is now in the ground.
