Pillow, Then Sun
Shams
In Rabat, a girl sleeps with her tooth under her pillow — but only for one night. At dawn, her mother wakes her, leads her to the courtyard, and helps her hurl the tooth at the rising sun. "Donkey for a gazelle," her mother prompts. The girl repeats it loud and clear. The sun catches the tooth between rays and sends back a strong one.
