Sun, Mouse, Gold
The Sun
In Beirut, a child stands at the edge of the sea and chants the line his grandmother taught him: "Oh sun, oh sun, take the mouse's tooth and give me a gold tooth." He throws. The tooth sails into the surf. The sun, ten thousand miles away, takes the call. The mouse, behind the wall back home, makes a note.
