Between the Legs

In western Kenya, where the practice has lived for generations, a child stands feet apart and bends slightly forward. The tooth goes in his fist, his arm goes between his legs, and he throws it backward without turning to look. Tradition says it must vanish behind him. Tradition says he must walk forward without ever asking where it went.
